HO: Home Health Aide - Certificate
The Certificate of Proficiency in Home Health Aide provide students with clinical experiences in skilled nursing facilities, and home health care. Completion of the Nursing Assistant Certificate courses provide eligibility for the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program (NNAAP) examination for the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). CNAs who complete the Home Health Aide course work are eligible to receive a California Certificate as a Home Health Aide (HHA).

Program Learning Outcomes:
- Students will use the language of the profession of nursing to communicate appropriately using verbal, written, and technological methods.
- Students will critically analyze relevant information in the utilization of the nursing process, applying principles of evidence-based practice as needed in the home setting.
- Students will identify personal and professional growth in daily clinical journals activities, with oral feedback from the instructor during post conference.
To earn this certificate, students must complete the minimum required courses with a grade of C (or P) or better.

The Home Health Aide is a CNA is a member of the health care team who works under the supervision of the LVN, RN, or Physician. Employment opportunities for the Home Health Aide include private duty home care. Home health aides work primarily in homes and as a visiting care provider (ie: hospice care or public health aide).
